Lifestyle Choices

Lifestyle Choices offers first steps learning to
a new concept, The aim is to offer adults
aged 16 and over, with a learning disability,
the opportunity to experience new activities
and develop new skills for the future.

The scheme is available to adults with
learning disabilities who live within Greater
Nottingham.

Sessions run throughout the day at
Harpenden House and offer the choice of
morning, afternoon or full day participation.
Drinks and lunch are provided free of charge,
which are cooked on site by the trainee
caterers.

We have an extensive range of activities on
offer which alters to suit demand.

We have designed our initial range of
choices in the hope that everyone will find
something of interest. Whether individuals
are looking for more varied recreational
opportunities, learning a leisure skill or even
taking a first step into vocational training.

We currently offer the following activities:

Arts and Crafts
Drama Workshop
Gardening Project
Catering
Computing & IT keyboard skills
Car Valeting

Harpenden House Gardening Group

Harpenden House Gardening Group have been busy in their garden.
Despite the cold winter, most plants survived.  We have been planting
pumpkins, potatoes, peas, beans, lettuce, onions, carrots, parsnips, chard,
tomatoes, courgettes and callaloo.  We are picking strawberries and
raspberries, turnips and peas.  We have now 2 big raised beds which are
great for people with mobility problems.
Toby who is 65 years old grows vegetables
in a raised bed.
The fruit and vegetables grown in the garden are used in the kitchen by the catering group who cook
healthy meals for  our lunches.
Serita, Malcolm and Jamie water the flower
garden.
We have been doing a project on birds and had a visit to Attenborough Nature Reserve to see the
birds there.  We have also been in a trip to Stonebridge City Farm and Rushcliffe Mencap garden, it
was lovely to see other community gardens.  See photos below
