The Gateway Award is an exciting scheme
which supports individuals to gain new
experiences, and to achieve new skills
through varied activities.  We are looking
for people who can help them to do this.  
We would especially like to hear from
people who would like to play a part in
running and organising the Award. If you

Gateway Club Update

The Gateway Award Scheme for children
aged 8 - 13 years has had a successful
start and a name change.
The Club is now known as the
813 Club.
The Club runs on Friday evenings  at
Harpenden House, Edwards Lane between
6pm and 8pm and there are still some
places available.

Transition Directory

Nottingham Mencap are pleased to
announce the arrival of the
Transition Directory.  

This is a comprehensive guide for
disabled young people , their parents
and carers in Greater Nottingham.

It will also prove a very useful tool to
many professionals.

This project was funded by
Scope and
together with
Nottingham Mencap
and
The Children's Centre the
directory was put together.

The directory covers all aspects of
the transition process including
information on Employment and
Training, Leisure, Health, Short
Breaks, Transport and much more
.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

Senior Gettaway Club on
Tuesday or Wednesday evening

6.30pm and 9pm.
Help is needed with the running of
games, the tuckshop, in the art room
and in the quiet room.

emotional disabilities in Nottingham and
Nottinghamshire and is compiled by Lyn Nixon
and Joyce Judson of the Children's Centre.

East Midlands in Bloom Awards

In the summer Harpenden House Gardening Group
entered for an award with
East Midlands in Bloom. In
July Julie Walker and Richard Tomlinson came and looked
at our garden. They were very impressed with our
garden and our flowers, fruit and vegetables. In
September the tutor Denise Hickman and volunteer
Doreen Haskins went to the Council House to collect our
award.
We got an amazing award of Merit.
