ELAINE SEYFERT  22ND SEPTEMBER 1968 - 10TH FEBRUARY 2009

We were all sad to hear of the death of Elaine
Seyfert, a keen member of Gettaway and former
Lifestyle Choices student, on 10th February.

In her gentle, thoughtful way, Elaine was a
woman of many parts and many talents.  As
well as her involvement with Gettaway and
formerly Lifestyle Choices, she was a popular
member of Bestwood Day Centre, where she
particularly enjoyed working on Reception,
doing Arts and Crafts, and socialising with other
members.  She was also a keen cook, and
worker one day a week as a kitchen assistant
at Ernehale Lea.  To her housemates and Valley
Road, Elaine was a  "Mum" figure, who looked
out for those more vulnerable than herself.  She
was a good listener, and good at cheering up
people who were upset.

For the past six years Elaine was also a keen member of "Faith and Light" at West Bridgford
Methodist Church, and popular both within the group and the church at large.  On 6th
December, although she was already quite poorly, Elaine braved the freezing weather to
come to York for the annual Faith and Light (Midlands and North) carol singing.

Elaine faced her last illness with courage and dignity.  On 23rd February people from all parts
of her life gathered at West Bridgford Methodist Church to give thanks for what she meant to
them and the difference she had made to their lives.  Our thoughts are particularly with her
Dad, her brother Frank, her sisters Anna and Marion, and her gentleman friend Kevin at this
sad time.
